Connected and accessible, at last.
With the hanging bridge constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), residents of Barangay Aurora in Nueva Vizcaya will no longer endure long walks and crossing a river just to go in and out of their remote community.
According to DPWH-Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran, the P1-million hanging bridge project located at Barangay Aurora, Quezon, Nueva Vizcaya was implemented to put an end to the ordeal of locals in Barangay Aurora, most especially the students who attend classes at Barangay Boliwao Elementary School, located on the other side of the tributary of Magat River.
The construction of the hanging 75.20-lineal meter steel bridge was undertaken by DPWH – Nueva Vizcaya First District Engineering Office (DPWH-NVFDEO) funded under the 2019 Local Infrastructure Program.
“Prior to the completion of this project, students walk for about 5.35 kilometers, rain or shine, just to go to school. But now, this bridge will provide a safer and shorter connection for the students and stakeholders in the area,” said District Engineer Oscar G. Gumiran.
Aside from pedestrians, the bridge can also allow passage of motorcycles thus provide an alternate route that will hasten the delivery of goods and services since income of residents in the area rely mainly on agriculture and mining.
