Our elders in the Province of Cagayan now have a new venue for their different social activities with the completion of the Senior Citizens’ Multi-Purpose Building built by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Barangay Bangag, Lal-lo, Cagayan.

Public Works Secretary Mark A. Villar commended DPWH Region 2 OIC-Director Loreta Malaluan and DPWH Cagayan First District Engineering Office (DEO) for the successful completion and turning over of the multi-purpose building to the Provincial Government of Cagayan.

Constructed in the total amount of P9.87-million under the CY 2018 Infrastructure Program, the two-storey building completed in May 2019 features person with disability friendly ramps, auditorium, lounge area, office room, first aid room, and lobby as well as kitchen, electrical and maintenance room, and toilet and bath.

The 403-square meter building expected to be used as a venue for activities for the elderly such as outreach programs and medical missions is strategically situated on an elevated area of Barangay Bangag to ensure accessibility and safety of the structure from flooding.

“The realization of this center is a manifestation of DPWH’s commitment to provide better infrastructure for all, including our senior citizens,” added Secretary Villar.
