More tourists can soon explore the wonders of Dariuk Hills in Barangay Balintocatoc, Santiago City, Isabela, as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) nearly completes the construction of 970 meter access road leading to the tourist destination.
Set to complete this October with an accomplishment rate of 75.23%, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the construction of the access road is projected to fuel the increase of tourists in Santiago City, which will also pave way to the growth of its economy.
“Aside from boosting tourism and economy in Isabela, the project also intends to provide driving convenience through safe and durable roadways,” Secretary Villar added.
Often visited during the Holy Week, Dariuk Hills offers a place of pilgrimage where life-sized Stations of the Cross are placed from the foot of the hill, leading to the chapel, the Church of Transfiguration, which is located at the top.
The P37 million road project, funded under the DPWH 2018 Regular Infrastructure Program, also involves construction of sidewalk and slope protection.
