In response to the problems of traffic congestion and insufficient classrooms, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed bridge widening and school building projects in Iguig, Cagayan.
Citing a report from DPWH Region 2 OIC-Director Loreta M. Malaluan, Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the completion of the widening of Gammad Bridge and construction of a new building of Vicente D. Trinidad National High School addresses the inadequacies of infrastructure in the municipality.
“The delivery of these projects adheres to the department’s mandate to provide our people access to basic needs and shows its support to the sectors of trade and education,” Secretary Villar added.
The widening of the 21-lineal meter Gammad Bridge along Cagayan Valley Road from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes in the amount of 29 million will speed up delivery of services and improve connectivity to neighboring municipalities.
On the other hand, the new two-storey building of Vicente D. Trinidad National High School is expected to provide a more conducive learning environment with more rooms for classes.
The P17 million building project, funded under the 2018 Basic Educational Facilities Fund (BEFF) of the Department of Education (DepEd), houses eight classrooms, each with its own comfort rooms.
Both projects were implemented by the DPWH Cagayan Third District Engineering Office.
