The tourism industry in Tangub City, Misamis Occidental is seen to get a boost with the newly paved road leading to its scenic Hoyoyoy Highland Botanical Garden.

Deparment of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 10 Director Evelyn T. Barroso said a total of P53.4 million was spent for the concreting with grouted riprap lined canal of Sta. Maria Hoyohoy Road.

The improved Sta. Maria Hoyohoy Road will allow tourists to have an easier and smoother trip to Hoyohoy Highland Botanical Garden where the large collection of plants for scientific studies, the breathtaking view of Panguil Bay and the vast resources of Mt. Malindang Ranges Natural Park can be seen.

Aside from facilitating access to scenic and natural attractions, the completed project will address traffic congestion caused by the influx of tourists during Christmas season.

Tangub City, tagged as the Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines and the little Baguio of Misamis Occidental, is frequently visited by tourists during Yuletide season, for its recreation of famous landmarks in the world using colorful lights and glowing decorations.
