Residents of far-flung areas in the Municipality of Rizal will no longer have to walk for hours to reach neighboring barangays with the ongoing construction of the Logac-Lasam-Gagabutan Road by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the Province of Cagayan.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that a faster and better road connection between Barangays Masi, San Juan, and Bural, collectively known as Zinundungan Valley in Rizal, will soon be serviceable with the upgrading of the 3.1-kilometer gravel road.

With a total allocation of P74-million, the improvement of the Logac-Lasam-Gagabutan Road Project involves concrete cement paving of a two (2) lane road as well as provision of drainage structures and slope protection aimed for completion by April 2020.

Meanwhile, DPWH Region 2 Director Loreta Malaluan said that DPWH Cagayan Second District Engineering Office (DEO) has received positive feedback from residents of Zinundungan Valley.

“By next year, Cagayanos will no longer have to endure three hours walk from their houses in Barangay Masi to Barangay Gagabutan where they can ride tricycles bound for the población, greatly cutting travel time and improving provision of public services,” said Director Malaluan.
