The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is on the final stages of construction of the Cataban-Navotas bridge and road project in Laoag City which is anticipated to boost livelihood activities in the area.

Residents of barangays Cataban and Navotas, who are known for their production of dried fish and eco-friendly bags made from water lilies, can look forward to possible increase in their income as the P40 million project will improve transport of products and goods.

With this, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar stressed that the department utilizes its maximum effort in providing avenues for small industries to thrive within and outside their region.

“This on-going project shall help the barangays of Cataban and Navotas to be more economically competitive through the construction of more accessible road networks that will ease transportation of goods and services,” Secretary Villar said.

Funder under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and implemented by DPWH Ilocos Norte Engineering District I, the project, started in May 2018, is scheduled for completion this November 2019.
