Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of nine (9) school buildings with a total of 58 classrooms in different schools in the municipality of Baggao, Province of Cagayan.
Based on a report from DPWH-Cagayan First District Engineering Office (DPWH-CSDEO), Villar cited that the school buildings amounting to P78.8 million were funded under the Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF) of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The newly-constructed classrooms are in the following schools: Agaman Sur Elementary School, Assasi Elementary School, Mocag Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School, Baggao National Agricultural School, Baggao National School of Arts and Trades, Baggao National School of Arts and Trades – Sta. Margarita Annex, and Agaman National High School.
“We implement the construction of additional school buildings to help maintain the ideal class size and teacher-student ratio for quality education,” said Secretary Villar.
Single-storey buildings consisting of three (3) classrooms each were built for elementary schools while national high schools were provided with two-storey buildings with four (4) to 12 classrooms.
Each building is equipped with comfort rooms and accessibility ramps which are intended for the inclusivity of persons with disabilities (PWD).
“These buildings are ready to provide a conducive learning environment to over a thousand elementary and senior high school students,” added Secretary Villar.
