In support of the country’s military force, Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar inspected on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 the construction of several ongoing and completed infrastructure facilities in Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan.
As the home of First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSSR), Secretary Villar said that the provision and modernization of facilities contribute greatly to training and operations of scout rangers.
Just recently, the DPWH Bulacan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) under District Engineer Ramiro M. Cruz completed the P21 million rehabilitation of the camp’s perimeter road through asphalt overlaying.
Among the facilities still undergoing construction works are the P15 million clubhouse, P15 million multi-purpose building, and P20 million two (2) storey twenty (20) door transient quarters which are all set to finish before the year ends.
“The implementation of this multi-facility project is in fulfillment of our goal to provide our soldiers quality facilities that will be of significant help to their daily routine. It is the least we can do to honor the risk they go through everyday just to keep conflict-ridden areas in peace and order,” Villar added.
Taking this commitment a step further, DPWH Bulacan 2nd DEO proposed more components under the project which are currently under review.
These include construction of additional administrative liaison building, one (1) storey ten (10) door women’s barracks, additional parking bays, continuation of improvement of perimeter road and multi-purpose building.
Recognized for the significant role they played in the Zamboanga Siege in 2013 and Marawi Crisis in 2017, the FSSR is a unit of the Philippine Army specializing in anti-guerrilla jungle warfare, raids, ambushes, close quarters combat, urban warfare, and sabotage.
