CDO Convention Center main building set to complete this December

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is working for the completion of the new Cagayan de Oro (CDO) Convention Center Main Building in Barangay Indahag, Cagayan de Oro City before the year ends.

DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said the main building of CDO Convention Center implemented through a convergence project with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) is now 94% complete and is set for completion by December 2019.

“Aside from to providing an avenue for socio-civic events in the city, we are confident that this center will further boost economic activities in Northern Mindanao by attracting investments and tourists not just in Metro Cagayan de Oro but also in the neighboring areas,” said Secretary Villar.

Started in February 2018, the P235-million building funded under the 2017 General Appropriations Act (GAA) involves construction of a main arena with, concession spaces, club rooms, rehearsal rooms, lobbies, and comfort rooms as well as outdoor parking slot, guard house, power house, and landscaping.

The entire 10,500-square meter main arena can accommodate up to 7,700 spectators during various events such as competitions, concerts, seminars, and conventions while the function rooms can hold up to 700 guests.

According to DPWH Region 10 Director Zenaida Tan, construction of additional amenities and support facilities in the civic center such as the TIEZA building, restaurant, pavilion, administrative building will immediately follow upon completion of the main building.

“The world-class complex will also have a multi-level carpark building, parking for persons with disability (PWD), viewing deck with photoshoot area, helipad, and function rooms,” added Director Tan.
