Thursday, December 5, 2019

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed 92 new rural health units (RHUs) in Region 1 for 2019 to provide residents with better primary health facilities to residents.

According to Secretary Villar, a total of P405-million was allotted under the 2018 Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the Department of Health (DOH) for the construction of barangay health stations in multiple barangays in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.

The new facilities are equipped with dental clinic, TB DOTS clinic, ward room, nurses’ area, animal bite treatment center and rooms for consultation/treatment, birthing, family planning and seminar room, and laboratory so residents will no longer have to travel to the hospital.

Among the completed rural health units are those located in Aringay, Rosario, and Bauang in La Union; and San Fabian, San Jacinto, Alcala, Villasis, and Pozorrubio in Pangasinan.

“With the completion of these facilities, residents can have more convenient and reliable services within their reach,” added Secretary Villar.

Meanwhile, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel M. Tan announced that they are fast-tracking the completion of six (6) other health centers in the La Union and Pangasinan for completion before the year ends.
