DPWH Utilize Traffic App. for Road Work Announcements

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Announcements for road works and other related projects in Metro Manila are available online in one of the world's largest community-based traffic and navigation application.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) brings out information on planned and on-going road repairs to help motorists and commuters through the “Waze” application with the help of the local waze community.

Information on scheduled DPWH works requiring partial or total road lane closure due to upgrading, rehabilitation/repair and improvement works will be provided to the Philippine Waze Champs or Senior Editors for incorporation into the Waze map.

During the trial run, affected roads in Metro Manila will be displayed as ‘DPWH RD WORKS’ or ‘CLOSED’ on the highway names and Waze will automatically suggest possible alternative routes.

Waze users can look forward to having advance if not real time information of affected roads as shown up on the Waze map.

“We are extremely excited to partner with the local Waze community to help motorists and commuters plan their trip whenever the DPWH has on-going road repair and maintenance works initially in the National Capital Region”, said Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.

In time, this Waze app that is also accessible in mobile devices will become very useful for our nationwide road advisories especially during calamities, added Singson.
