DPWH RO2 celebrates 121st Founding Anniversary

All roads led to the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office II as it commemorated its 121st anniversary on June 21, 2019.

Employees from the Regional Office and the District Engineering Offices flocked to the regional office grounds for the simple one-day festivity bannering the theme “DPWH: Gabay Tungo sa Konkretong Pag-unlad”.

In his message, Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos reminded everyone to continue their fulfilling their mandate as committed civil servants.

“We should always uphold the mandate of our department. Let’s continue to be the forefront in formulating and building quality infrastructures that is responsive to the needs of the public,” Director Briosos said.

“Every bridge, road, and flood control project that we construct is vital in connecting people and places together to boost socio-economic status and achieve national development. Our passion for serving our clientele will continue to ignite even for another 121 years or more,” he added.

The program highlighted the DPWH Got Talent portion where personnel and employees took the centerstage and showcased their dancing and singing prowess. There was also a celebration of the Holy Eucharistic mass which was sponsored by the District Engineers’ Leaue of the Philippines (DELP) and the Federation of Employees Union.

The DPWH is the primary engineering and construction arm of the government, which is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructures such as roads and bridges, flood control systems, water resource development projects, and other public works in accordance with national objectives.

DPWH traces its roots to the Department of War and Public Works, which was one of the first four Departments of the Philippine Revolutionary Government created by virtue of then President Emilio Aguinaldo’s Organic Decree in June 23, 1898.
