
“The continuous construction of K-to-12 school buildings is part of the shared objective of the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in support to the Build! Build! Build! Program of the government”, said DPWH-Isabela Third DEO District Engineer Editha R. Babaran during the completion of school building projects in their area of jurisdiction.
The DPWH-ITDEO completed the construction of three-storey school building at San Mateo Vocational and Industrial High School in the Municipality of San Mateo amounting to P29,702,963.18 pesos, and a one-storey school building at Marabulig II Elementary School in Cauayan City worth Php 5,583,676.73.
The new school building at San Mateo Vocational and Industrial HS houses a total of three regular workshop facilities benefiting about 3,000 secondary students, while the school building in Marabulig II ES holds two classrooms for over 200 pupils. Construction for the said school buildings started on December 2017 and on December 2018, respectively.
DE Babaran added that the completion of the projects are a manifestation of DPWH’s support to the education program by building and providing educational infrastructures which are responsive to the needs Filipino learners.
Both projects were funded under DepEd’s Basic Educational Facilities Fund or BEFF.
