Road users and residents of the flood prone areas along EDSA (particularly, in front of Centris Mall), Mother Ignacia Street, Panay Avenue and Scout Albano Street will worry no more as the DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineering Office (QCIIDEO) reported that it has recently completed the rehabilitation of the drainage system along the mentioned low-lying areas.
NCR Director Ador G. Canlas reports that the improvement includes road upgrading and widening of existing the box culvert from 1.8m to 4.0m inside width.
“Doubling its volume capacity accommodates the large volume of storm water coming and starting from Barangay Central, Quezon City,” Director Canlas said.
Funded under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) with an allocation of P 60-Million, the said project was tapped or connected on to the recently completed box culvert project along Quezon Avenue with a 5.2m inside width.
“It now provides a hazard-free road network as an alternate route to Quezon Avenue going to Quezon Memorial Circle,” Director Canlas added.
Other works include replacement of deteriorated sidewalks with improved provisions of concrete ramp intended for PWDs.
