DPWH completes Office of Civil Defense Building in San Fernando, La Union

Providing conducive workplace for disaster responders, a new five-storey building for the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) along Aguila Road, Brgy. Sevilla, San Fernando City, La Union was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Located in the government center, the completion of the building is said to bring government services closer to the people and make coordination with fellow government agencies more efficient.

Citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 1 Director Ronnel Tan, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the building itself is disaster-resilient equipped with automatic water sprinkler system, lightning arrester, fire alarm system, and emergency stand-by generators.

“It is high time that we also ensure the safety of those who are in the frontline of protecting us during times of disasters. We are very much pleased to assist our co-civil servants in their endeavors to render quality service to the public,” Secretary Villar added.

Construction works on the P60 million building project was funded under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
