Department of Public Works and Highways Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DPWH ESDEO) joined the teachers and staff of Pedro E. Candido Memorial National High School in Brigada Eskwela in Hernani, Eastern Samar on May 20-21, 2019
According to the school principal Noime Villarino, DPWH was a great help in their Brigada Eskwela particularly in painting the classrooms, cutting of grasses and other maintenance works.
“We thank DPWH for all the help they have provided that make our preparations for the opening of classes much easier. We will be able to say that we are now ready to accept students and conduct classes on June 3, 2019”, said Villarino in an interview.
Meanwhile, ESDEO District Engineer Manolo A. Rojas directed maintenance personnel to expedite the repair of roads and canals, repainting of pedestrian lane, and installation of traffic sign boards to national roads leading to schools in the province and finish it before the opening of classes.
“As part of the Oplan Balik Eskwela Inter-agency Task Force, one of our major concern is to make our roads safe to travelling public particularly to teachers and students. We make sure also that road safety devices such as pedestrian lane and road signages are well maintained”, said DE Rojas.
He also disclosed that the district is also focusing on the completion of prior years - school building projects at the end of second quarter this year.
“I directed project engineers to fast track and closely monitor the construction of school building projects so that this will be used by students this school year”, added DE Rojas.
