NSSDEO prepares CY 2019 2nd quarter nationwide earthquake drill

In compliance to the memorandum of Secretary Mark Villar dated 16 April 2019, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Northern Samar 2nd District Engineering Office is preparing for the execution of the second quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill.

At the regular monthly meeting of the NSSDEO rank & file employees, District Engineer Ferdinand Briones directed the members of the District Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Team (DDRRMT) to coordinate with other agencies existing in the NSSDEO area of jurisdiction for a possible tie-up simulation activity to be held at the district office compound in Brgy. Burabud, Laoang, Northern Samar.

District Engineer Briones also instructed the PIO Unit to send invitation letter as early as possible to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) provincial office as well as PhiVOLCS since they will act as evaluators of the drill.

As member of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the DPWH is part of the nationwide simultaneous earthquake which has the following objectives: (1) To test the efficiency and usefulness of the preparedness, response and recovery plans, systems and policies developed in the respective localities/offices, schools; (2) To evaluate the effectiveness of the contingency plan; (3) To test the coordination and communication mechanism during the response operation; (4) To understand the command and control mechanism in emergency and disaster operations at the DRRMCs.
