
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VIII bags 1st in Place in current year Disbursement Rate (DR) among 16 regional offices nationwide.

As of August 31, 2019, the regional office recorded a 75.01% Absorptive Capacity (AC) Rate; 20.77% Current Year DR, attaining the highest among the 16 regional offices nationwide; and 85.07% All-In Disbursement Rate (DR) of previous and current year.
The Finance Division was determinate on the absorptive capacity of the region in terms of obligation of allotment, disbursement rate, and notice of cash allocation.
Meanwhile, Eastern Samar District Engineering Office (DEO) with 91.11% AC ranked 9th place, while Leyte 4th DEO with 46.28% ranked 3rd place and Leyte 1st DEO with 43.29% ranked 4th for the Current Disbursement Rate, respectively among the 183 District Engineering Offices nationwide.
For 2019, the regional office got Php 6.069 Billion for construction of 41 regular infrastructure projects. DPWH VIII is tasked to maintain 2,560 kilometers of national roads and 897 bridges.
