Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Residents and patients from Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and Abra will soon have more accessible healthcare facilities with the ongoing construction of the satellite hospital of Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) in Candon City, Ilocos Sur.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar is confident that the new 18,439-square meter satellite hospital will provide convenience to patients who are far from the main ITRMC in San Fernando City, La Union.

“Aside from providing medical services, we hope that this center can also promote relevant research projects and trainings for continuous medical staff development in Ilocos Region,” said Secretary Villar.

In his report to Secretary Villar, DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan said that construction is in full swing for the two (2) storey main building which will house the 100-bed emergency room (ER) and the outpatient department (OPD), with a total cost of P61.61-million and P86.44-million, respectively.

“We are also fast-tracking the completion of the two (2) storey Radiology Building in the amount of P28.96-million that is set for completion by April 2020,” reported Director Tan.

Upon completion, the ITRMC Satellite Hospital compound will also have its own rehabilitation building, dialysis building, administrative and records building, dietary building, and maintenance building.

The Satellite ITRMC is implemented by DPWH Ilocos Sur Second District Engineering Office (DEO) and is funded under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
