The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Aklan District Engineering Office (DEO) is continuously ensuring the safety of major roads in preparation to the expected huge volume of traffic in Kalibo for this year’s Ati-Atihan Festival slated in January 19, 2020.
According to DPWH Aklan DEO District Engineer Noel L. Fuentebella, roads in Kalibo and nearby municipalities are undergoing activities such as patching of potholes, sealing of cracks, de-clogging of canals, and painting of curb.
“This is in anticipation for the influx of local and international tourists and devotees in Kalibo to merry make and to participate in the religious activity,” Fuentebella said.
The Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival, dubbed as the Mother of All Philippines Festivals, is held annually in honor of Santo Niño. The week-long festivity will culminate on saint’s feast day on the third Sunday of January.
