Dubbed as the great wall of Batac because of its slant or incline road similar to those of the Great Walls of China, the Department of Public Works and Highways Region 1 has almost completed rehabilitation/reconstruction activities at the Batac-Pinili via Maipalig Road in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.
Started April 2015, Project Engineer Angelito A. Dian reported to Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos the progress of works at 95% complete as of September 2015.
Part of the P58 Million worth rehabilitation works for the national road which in the past has experienced frequent slips, occurrence of landslide and collapsed of slopes due to the strong rage of water coming from the Quiaoit river are the concreting of pavement, slope protection with gabions, construction of retaining walls and stone masonry and the completion of four (4) units spurdike.
