
To provide immediate assistance to Quezon City residents during calamities, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a four (4) storey evacuation center located at Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH National Capital Region (NCR) Director Ador G. Canlas said that the evacuation center is complete with all necessary facilities and amenities for the evacuees’ comfort.
Among these are toilet and shower rooms, infirmary and pharmacy, laundry and drying area, centralized kitchen, stock room, breastfeeding room, roof deck, paging system room with security cameras, generator, garbage segregation facility, wheelchair ramp, elevator, fire alarm system, fire exit, and accommodation area with a capacity of 156 beds and allotment of one (1) bed per family.
“Alongside equipping each center with all needed facilities is ensuring that it will be gender-sensitive with the provision of separate toilet and shower rooms for men and women, and persons with disability (PWD) friendly through building ramps and elevators,” said Secretary Villar.
With a total budget of P58-million, the evacuation center project was funded under the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and implemented by Quezon City I District Engineering Office (DEO).
