The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has now accomplished 71 percent of a farm-to-market road (FMR) and bridge project that will provide ease of access for conflict-stricken areas in Surigao del Sur.

The 78.4-million project which is part of Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan Program (PAMANA) involves the 2.37-kilometer road concreting and 10.44-kilometer road graveling, with provision of drainage and slope protection spanning from Sitio Kapatagan, Barangay Mabuhay to Sitio Mahanon, Barangay Maitum in the municipality of Tandag.

It also covers a 2-lane reinforced concrete deck girder (RCDG) bridge with a length of 15 lane meters in Barangay Mabuhay, Tandag, Surigao del Sur.

DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said that several stakeholders already expressed gratitude for the project that will deliver socio-economic growth in the marginalized community.

Funded under the Outside Infrastructure Program for CY 2018, civil works on the FMR began in November 2018 and is expected to be completed on the first quarter of 2020.

PAMANA program also known as “Road to Peace” aims to build roads and bridges that will provide convenience and access of communities affected by conflict to basic services of the government.
