
Estimated damage cost to national roads and bridges of the Taal Volcano eruption has reached P153.32 million as of 8:00 am Friday, January 31, 2020.
Citing a report from DPWH Bureau of Maintenance Director Ernesto S. Gregorio, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that as of latest monitoring report, two (2) additional national bridges in Batangas were assessed to have damage due to previous volcanic tremors.
DPWH Batangas First District Engineering Office (DEO) reported that the Calbangan Bridge along Palico-Balayan-Batangas Road in Barangay Mataas na Bayan, Lemery and the Laguile Bridge along Lemery-Taal Diversion Road in Barangay Laguile, Taal, sustained an estimated P4.77 million damage each.
Previously announced were five (5) roads and a bridge namely: Palico-Balayan-Batangas Road with P27 million damage; Lemery Taal Diversion Road with P35.16 million damage; Diokno Highway with P41.62 million damage; Tanauan-Talisay-Tagaytay Road with P4 million damage; and Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Road with P34 million damage while Sinisian Bridge along Palico-Balayan-Batangas Road suffered P2 million damage.
To date, only the Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Road remain impassable due to damaged pavement and lockdown imposed by the local government units (LGUs) of Laurel and Agoncillo towns.
