The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now speeding up construction and improvement of access roads leading to seaports in Lucena City, Quezon Province.

Anticipated to boost tourism, improve delivery of goods and services, and reduce transportation costs, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the project’s 79 percent completion rate is good news for residents and tourists that will be benefitting from the construction and rehabilitation of Quezon Eco-Tourism Cotta-Dalahican-Talao-Talao-Mayao-Road.

“Access roads to ports play a key role in the growth of the region’s economy. Our priority is to provide local industries, large or small-scale, with all possible assistance for the continuous thriving of their businesses in the years to come,” Secretary Villar added.

The access road project involves the 355.77-lineal meter road opening and concreting of 1,349.10-lineal meter existing road, with drainage and slope protection.

Targeted to be completed by March 2020, the P87-million project was funded under the 2019 DPWH Regular Infrastructure Fund and implemented by the DPWH Quezon Second District Engineering Office (DEO).
