The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has helped solve classroom shortage in Malaga National High School (MNHS), in Calbayog City, Samar.
Citing a report from Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno, a two-storey, four-classroom building was completed and turned over by DPWH and now caters three (3) Grade 8 sections and one (1) Grade 9 class of MNHS since the resumption of classes in January 2020.
Kent Olasiman, a Grade 8 student of Malaga National High School, said on an interview that they had a hard time using their previous rooms because the space was too crowded and would get flooded whenever it rained.
“Since 2011, lack of classroom has been the school’s perennial problem. It is an honor for the DPWH in conveyance with the Department of Education to contribute in addressing the problem,” said Director Bueno.
The Malaga National High School – Peña I Annex is one (1) of the schools damaged by the SuperTyphoon Yolanda in 2013.
