Residents, especially farmers of Barangay Mangcuram and Siffu, Ilagan City, Isabela will no longer have to bear with the bumpy gravel and muddy road just to transport their crops to the main markets.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently completed the upgrading of 2.3-kilometer Mangcuram-Siffu Road with 11.7 meter wide and 280 millimeter thickness Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP) including a 142 lineal meter of lined canal, in the amount of P18.8 million.
The concreting of Mangcuram-Siffu Road aims to help farmers in the area who can now hasten the delivery of their agricultural products to major markets, trading posts and commercial centers in the city of Ilagan, Isabela.
“The Department of Agriculture farm-to-market road (FMR) projects are part of the DPWH convergence program with other national agencies,” said Secretary Mark Villar.
“The newly paved road will greatly ease the mobility of people and delivery of basic social and health services, thus improving the over-all-socio-economic condition of the populace in the province.” Secretary Villar added.
