Bacjawan Bridge Widening Project in Concepcion, Iloilo nears completion

A more convenient and faster travel will soon be experienced in Concepcion, Iloilo as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) continuously work to complete the widening of Bacjawan Bridge.

In her report to Secretary Mark. A Villar, DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez said the P17.40-million project is at 98.6 percent completion rate as of January 2020.

The bridge project along Concepcion-San Dionisio Road covers the widening of 190.40-square meter reinforced concrete deck girder on reinforced concrete piles foundation with 117.03-linear meter approaches.

“The widening from two (2) to four (4) lanes of Bacjawan Bridge, along with other bridges traversing this road, aims to promote eco-tourism, agriculture, and domestic trade in Northern Iloilo as well as to provide additional road space for our motorists travelling the towns of Concepcion and San Dionisio,” said Secretary Villar.

Funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act (GAA), civil works on the Bacjawan Bridge started in June 2019.
