
The government has allocated a total of P1-B for the implementation of 75 infrastructure projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in various areas of Biliran this year 2020.
According to Biliran District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer David Adongay Jr., projects funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 includes P400.8-Million allocation for various infrastructure projects under the Local Infrastructure Program.
Included are the construction or improvement of school buildings and multi-purpose buildings; rehabilitation and construction of flood control structures and seawalls; and construction or rehabilitation of local roads and bridges.
Meanwhile, P265.5-Million is allocated for the construction of slope protection structures, asphalt overlay, and reconstruction or upgrading of damaged paved roads, all under the Asset Preservation Program and a total of P160-Million has been assigned for the construction of eight (8) flood-control structures under the Flood Management Program.
The amount of P85-Million is also allotted for the construction of two (2) access roads leading to tourism destinations in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and additional P80-Million for widening projects along Biliran Circumferential Road under the Network Development Program.
An access road leading to trades and industry worth P50-Million will be constructed in convergence with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and one (1) construction of Biliran Provincial Police Office Building in convergence with the Philippine National Police will be done this year amounting to P25-Million.
“We are positive that 2020 is a year of growth for Biliran with all these projects awaiting implementation,” said District Engineer Adongay.
