The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently undertaking road opening works for a new access road leading to Lucap Boulevard and Mangrove Park in Barangay Bued, Alaminos City, Province of Pangasinan.
In a report submitted by DPWH Pangasinan First District Engineer Marieta B. Mendoza, DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar cited that the on-going P79.8-million project is being implemented under Phase 3 of a multi-year program.
The project covers reclamation starting at Lucap Wharf to Mangrove Park shore, construction of a 2.15-kilometer, 2-lane road opening and a bridge measuring 40 lineal meters.
It also involves slope and shore protection works made up of reinforced concrete piles and capping to maintain the overall stability and integrity of the whole structure.
“The road and bridge will be raised above the maximum recorded tidal range to ensure that it is still accessible during high tide even in the occurrence of typhoons,” said Secretary Villar.
The reclaimed land with the slope protection will also serve as a breakwater, keeping the coastal area safe from destructive waves, thereby preventing loss of lives and damage to properties.
“Upon its completion in 2023, this project will spur local employment, open for more livelihood opportunities, and boost tourism in the province by serving as a safer and direct route to declared tourist destinations,” added Secretary Villar.
