Upgrading of the P49-M Tarlac river dike in Central Luzon is now complete.
In a report submitted to DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson, DPWH District Engineer Erelina B. Santos of the Tarlac First District Engineering Office said that the upgrading/repair of the Tarlac River Dike along Ninoy Aquino Boulevard in Tarlac City has been completed while the widening of Ninoy Aquino Bridge approaches is expected for completion early next year.
According to Engr. Santos, the contractor has been instructed to remove project barriers during this Holiday Season to ease traffic condition especially with the anticipated influx of road travelers bound for Tarlac and Pangasinan.
Repair and upgrading of Tarlac River dike along Ninoy Aquino Boulevard including widening of Ninoy Aquino Bridge have encountered some delays due to high water level of the river brought about by recent typhoons and heavy rains being experienced in the project area.
Santos explained that they have to divert the flow of the river in order to allow the construction of board piles and column at Pier No. 2 of the Ninoy Aquino Bridge.
She also reported that under the 2014 Infrastructure Program of Tarlac First District Engineering Office, 34 various projects were already completed with 16 others on-going costing a total of P626 Million.
Among the projects completed are the asphalt overlay of Paniqui-Ramos Road, Victoria-Pura Road, Anao-Ramos Road, and Paniqui-Poblacion Road; concrete paving of Moncada-Paniqui Road and Capas-San Jose-Mayantoc-Malacampa Road; and rehabilitation of Barangobong Bridge along Paniqui-Camiling-Wawa Road.
Rehabilitation/improvement of flood control structures were also completed particularly along Rang-ayan Section of Tarlac River and Sawat-Bilad Section along Camiling River.
