
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has attained 64 percent completion of the San Miguel – Calaitan Road Project which will provide better access for locals and farmers in the Caraga Region.
Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said that once completed, the road will provide ease of access to basic facilities and services to encourage the development of agriculture and domestic trade across the region.
The road project traversing Surigao-Davao Coastal Road, Junction Gamut in Surigao del Sur to the Agusan-Davao road section of Daang Maharlika in Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur is expected to cut travel time from farms to the nearest market by 1 hour and 20 minutes, reducing the hauling cost of agricultural products.
The P3.9 billion project involves opening and upgrading of 40.733-kilometer lateral road with provision of drainage and slope protection, as well as construction of two (2) permanent bridges with a total length of 130.8 linear meters.
