Thursday, March 5, 2020

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is constructing an access road that will directly connect Nasipit International Port to Masao National Port Road in Agusan del Norte.

Costing P2.1 billion, the ongoing Nasipit – Buenavista – Masao Port Coastal Road project now 23 percent completed is a 5.79-kilometer road opening and 18.90-kilometer road upgrading from Nasipit Road to Butuan City - Masao Port Road, with provision of drainage, slope protection, and road safety devices.

The project also includes construction of five (5) permanent bridges with a total length of 635.79 linear meters.

DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said that this new road when completed in 2022 will address the increasing traffic buildup along Butuan – Cagayan de Oro – Iligan Road (BCIR) and will improve accessibility and mobility of people and goods going in and out of the province through Nasipit Port.

The Nasipit – Buenavista – Masao Port Coastal Road will also serve as an alternate route from BCIR to the Surigao-Agusan section of Daang Maharlika road.
