The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced the completion of its P19.34-million road concreting project benefiting people of Barangays Camambugan and Sulong in Balasan, Iloilo.

DPWH Iloilo 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Flordelis C. Enriquez reported that a 1.19-kilometer, two-lane road has already reached full completion status as of February 2020.

“What used to be a rough road took residents 15 to 20 minutes of travel time just to reach the market. With this road concreting, faster and safer commute is now experienced by the people in this area,” District Engineer Enriquez said.

The improvement of the local road that connects to Balasan-Carles Road is also seen to provide accessibility and efficiency in bringing goods and products of farmers from the towns in northern Iloilo to the other parts of the province.

The completed project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) for calendar year 2019.
