Residents near Sabang River in Buenavista, Marinduque are the beneficiaries of recently-completed flood mitigation project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

According to DPWH Marinduque District Engineering Office (DEO) District Engineer Josefina T. Panaligan, the completed P19-million flood mitigation structure is composed of a drainage system and channel improvement along the 1.36-kilometer portion of Sabang River.

“The project will be of big help most especially the farmers because it will prevent soil erosion and destruction of farms during typhoon and rainy season,” said District Engineer Panaligan.
The flood control structure project is funded under the 2019 General Appropriations Act.
