The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Monday, March 30, 2020 delivered additional 10,000 surgical masks to major public hospitals handling COVID-19 patients in Metro Manila.

With Secretary Mark A. Villar’s instruction, DPWH Undersecretary and Head of the Task Force on Augmentation of Healthcare Facilities Emil K. Sadain facilitated the distribution of donated medical supplies to Fabella Hospital, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center and Philippine Lung Center, each receiving a box with 2,000 pieces medical masks.

Villar said that the newly-delivered masks were donation received by Undersecretary Sadain, in-charge of Unified Project Management Office operations, from international construction companies China-Geo Engineering Corporation, Quingjan Group of Company, and Hunnan Construction.

“We’re glad that we are being tapped by generous foreign construction firms who want to help our frontline workers. We are more than willing to have our resources utilized to be part of this bayanihan spirit,” said Secretary Villar.

Aside from the 10,000 masks for healthcare workers, some pieces of donated masks were also distributed to DPWH frontliners in the National Capital Region.

Undersecretary Sadain was assisted in the receiving and distribution of mask donations to hospitals by NCR Director Ador Canlas and Assistant Director Juvy Cordon, Bureau of Maintenance Director Ernesto Gregorio Jr., Bureau of Construction Director Eric A. Ayapana, Bureau of Design Director Aristarco M. Doroy and the officers of DPWH Employees Union.
