International Contractors Donated Masks to DPWH for Frontliners and Health Workers

DPWH received from international Contractors a total of 139K Face Masks which shall be turned over to Health Workers and DPWH Frontliners.

Most of the donations were distributed to major hospitals such as Philippine General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, Manila Doctors Hospital, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, Fabella Hospital, St. Luke’s Medical Center (Quezon City), among others.

Secretary Mark A. Villar said that he is grateful for the support and care of the foreign contractor as demand for face masks is high especially for those working in the hospitals as well as our Department frontliners to prevent contracting COVID-19 infection.

On April 20, 2020, DPWH received addtional five (5) boxes each containing 2,000 pieces of surgical face masks from China Wu Yi Co., Ltd.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines, several contractors have donated various health consumables and medical protective items for hospital workers and DPWH personnel involved in the augmentation of health facilities, added Secretary Villar.

To date, international construction firms undertaking government infrastructure projects as well as multi-investment companies have contributed medical supplies of about 139,000 pieces of surgical face masks, 1,150 pieces of N-95 masks, 90 pieces personal protective equipment, 80 pieces face shield and 200 liters of alcohol disinfectant.

Companies that have donated medical supplies are China Geo Engineering Corp.; Quinjian Group Company, Ltd.; Hunan Road and Bridge Construction Group Co. Ltd.; Sino Road and Bridge Group Company, Ltd.; China Road and Bridge Corporation; Philippine Fullwin Group of Companies; and San Miguel Corporation.

The delivery of donated masks to hospitals are part of a larger set of initiatives DPWH is taking to help government cope with the health crisis.
