The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is improving portions of Butuan-Cagayan de Oro-Iligan Road or BCIR along the municipalities of Carmen and Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The ongoing P89.4 million road widening project in Barangay Tagcatong, Carmen covering 2.03 kilometers or 14,833 square meters of portland concrete cement pavement is seen to facilitate easier transition on the curved road, ensuring the safety of motorists.

Another road slope protection project is ongoing in Barangay Camagong, Nasipit. The P51.4 million project involves construction of a 426-meter road slope with sheet pile to serve as protection from scouring especially during downpour.

DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said that upon completion, the road projects will accelerate mobility, economic activity, and efficiency in the delivery of services, as well as provide sustainable growth in agriculture.

The road widening project has an accomplishment of 68.7 percent while the road slip project is nearing completion at 84.5 percent.
