The Department of Public Works and Highways reported an ongoing construction of a P50-million multi-purpose gymnasium inside its Cagayan 2nd District Engineering Office compound in Barangay Libertad, Abulug, Cagayan.
The civil works on the gymnasium is implemented by DPWH Cagayan 2nd DEO and has already reached 58 percent of actual construction accomplishment.
District Engineer Lorna Austen said that the gymnasium will be equipped with car parking lots, storage, locker room, and toilet facilities once completed.
“This facility will live up to its multi-functionality aspect by serving as a place for hosting various sporting events, conferences and programs for the Department; a training center; and most importantly, it can also be utilized as an evacuation site during calamities,” District Engineer Austen added.
The project, which is funded under the 2019 Regular Infrastructure Program, started its construction in August 2019 and is expected to be completed within the last quarter of 2020.
