Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the recent completion of various road improvements along Roman Expressway will further boost the economic potential of Bataan Province.
Citing DPWH Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office’s report, Secretary Villar said that Roman Expressway – a national arterial road traversing 10 Bataan towns – was the recent recipient of road widening and asphalting projects.
“We recently completed the widening of its 2.12-kilometer portion in Pilar town amounting to P69.7 million, which improves the transport of goods and local products in the area by providing continuous flow of traffic with lesser build-up,” said Secretary Villar.
The portion was widened from four (4) lanes to six (6) lanes.
Another completed project is a P36.16-million maintenance work along the 919-linear-meter portion of Roman Expressway in Balanga City which covers road asphalt overlaying for a smoother travel.
Roman Expressway caters to all types of vehicles from motorcycles to the large truck trailers on a daily basis, making it one of the province’s busiest and most vital road hence its improvement and maintenance is among DPWH priority projects to guarantee its optimal use.
