Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced the completion of two (2) river-control projects in the municipalities of Solana and Amulung, Cagayan Province.
One of the recently-completed flood-control project is the P72.38-Million riverbank protection project along Cagayan River in Barangay Natappian, Solana which now prevents massive soil erosion and protects locals’ homes and livelihood.
The project implemented by DPWH Cagayan 3rd District Engineering Office (CTDEO) involves the construction of a rubble concrete as river wall stretching 250 meters along Cagayan River, with hexapods as support.
Another project that was completed by DPWH-CTDEO is a P66.23-Million flood control system with revetments, driven sheet piles, and spur dikes along 257.2-meter downstream section of Cagayan River in Barangay Centro, Amulong town.
“Residents living close to the river whose livelihood mainly relies on farming are now protected by the flood-control project”, said Secretary Villar.
