A newly-paved access road constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now benefiting abaca farmers and handicrafters in the municipality of Dumingag, Zamboanga Del Sur.

“The improvement of road access in support of “abaca” handicraft processing will encourage more locals to do business that in return will create an additional livelihood and income, boosting economic growth and development in the area”, said Secretary Mark A. Villar.

The P20 million project which involves the concreting of 866.46 lineal meters of road was completed in only six (6) months, and will reduce travel time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes.

The road will open vast development opportunities that would level up the standard of living of the local folks of Barangays Timonan, Marangan, Kahayagan, Pilili, and Timababoay.

The access road project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2020.
