In an effort to protect lives and properties during rainy season, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is undertaking the rehabilitation of three (3) portions of Pampanga River Flood Control structure in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office is hastening the construction of slope protection projects in low-lying areas of Cabiao City and neighbouring municipalities and to ensure smooth travel for motorists traversing the Jose Abad Santos Avenue Road.
As reported by DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, a total of P34-million was allocated for the rehabilitation of left side of Pampanga River Control in Barangay Sta. Isabel; P31.7-million in Barangay San Carlos; and P34.4-million in Barangay Bagong Sikat.
“Inasmuch as the area relies on agricultural production as its primary source of income, DPWH knows the significance of establishing flood mitigation structures to prevent inundation and destruction of crops,” said Secretary Villar.
The projects, which started on February 11, 2020, are expected to be completed by the end of this month despite restrictions brought by the ongoing pandemic.
