The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 426.30-meter river control structure in Barangays Malayal and Lintangan, Sibuco, Zamboanga Del Norte.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar reported that the completed structure along Camp Ofelia Easement in Barangay Lintangan side and along the concrete abutment of bridge in Barangay Malayal now protect residents and properties, as well as agricultural resources from major floods.
The P40 million flood control project involves earthworks, driving of steel sheet piles and construction of revetment. Funded under FY 2020 Regular Infrastructure Program, civil works began in February and was completed in only eight (8) months.
Residents of Barangays Malayal and Lintangan have been expressing their gratitude to the DPWH for providing infrastructure that will ensure their safety.
