To ensure that project implemented in the district conforms to its plans and program of works, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte Second District Engineering Office, district engineer Leo Edward Oppura conducted on-site visit of completed projects.
Among these projects were the recently completed Manloy river flood control and the road concreting in Brgy. Tigbao both in Carigara, Leyte.
The Manloy river flood control has a contract amount of P16.3-million involving the construction of 372 linear meter revetment wall to prevent the river bank from massive soil erosion and to protect the residents shelters and livelihood.
While the Tigbao road concreting has an allocation amounting to P4.7-million involving .488-kilometer in 5-meter span to give better road access to farmers in delivering their farm produce to the public markets.
“These projects will provide economic benefits to local residents. They will be safe from flooding especially those living in the downstream and the new road will provide smooth road for faster and convenient travel,” said Oppura.
For FY-2020 General Appropriation Act infrastructure projects, the district office has 59 projects of which 25 projects were completed, while 8 projects are still on-going and 26 projects have not yet started due to For Late Release (FLR) projects bringing a total budget allocation to P1.072-million.
