The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has already completed the 3.8-kilometer road segments of the ongoing bypass road project in the town of Pamplona, Cagayan Province.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that DPWH Cagayan Second District Engineering Office recently finished Phase 2 of the 2-lane Pamplona Bypass Road in Barangays Capalalian, Gattu, and Centro, which adds 2 kilometers from the already completed 1.8-kilometer Phase 1 in Barangay Capalalian.
Paved road sections in Barangays Capalalian, Gattu, and Centro were implemented with a total allocation of P86.98 million since 2018 which also covers the installation of drainage, slope protection works, shoulder and provision of pavement markings and signages.
This 2020, we have an ongoing construction of its third phase for the 2-span concrete bridge with a total length of 60.80 meters in Barangay Gattu. This is the remaining segment of the bypass road that will divert traffic within the busy Palompon town proper road, said Secretary Villar.
DPWH aims to complete Phase 3 of the project by February 2021. The bridge component has an allocation of P49 million from the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA).
When completed, motorists will be able to reap the benefits of a safer, faster route going in and out of Pamplona. The road is also seen to aid rice farmers in the area by facilitating better access with less cost to and from major market centers.
