Friday, November 6, 2020

The entire stretch of Catanduanes Circumferential Road – Catanduanes Province’s backbone highway - is now passable to the motoring public.

This was disclosed by Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, citing the re-opening of the vital road yesterday, although clearing operations are still being undertaken along sections severely affected by landslides that are only one (1) lane passable.

“We were able to open Catanduanes Circumferential Road through the efforts of our deployed teams who are still in the field working tirelessly to fully-open the roads,” said Secretary Villar.

Only remaining closed road in the island province of Bicol Region as of 6:00 AM, Friday, November 6, 2020 is the Baras - Gigmoto - Viga Road in Brgy. San Vicente, Municipality of Gigmoto and intermittent section in the Municipality of Baras.

Super Typhoon Rolly’s estimated cost of damage to national roads and bridges, flood-control structure, public buildings and other infrastructure is already at P6.96 Billion, majority from Bicol Region at P5.82 Billion.

Damage to barangay health facilities, multipurpose buildings, and local roads and bridges is now P445.06 Million.
