The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has ramped up implementation of two (2) road construction projects in Zamboanga City.

Secretary Mark A. Villar identified the two (2) priority projects of DPWH Zamboanga City District Engineering Office (DEO) as the P30.45-million road widening along Governor Camins Road and P34.32-million road reconstruction of the Naval Station Romulo Espaldon (NSRE) Road Network.

The widening along Governor Camis Road is currently in its second phase involving right-of-way (ROW) acquisition and civil works at the 642-meters portion of the road with an accomplishment of 70 percent.

The road widening project, which will form part to the proposed flyover project of DPWH Regional Office 9, is going to promote faster mobility, connectivity, and reduced traffic congestion in the city when completed in April 2021.

Meanwhile, the NSRE Road Network reconstruction in Barangay Bagong Calarian, Zamboanga City has already reached 60.62 percent accomplishment as of October 2020 with target completion set on February 2021.

The upgrading of the 985-meter road section with 10 meter width will facilitate efficient travel for military personnel within the premises of the Naval Forces Station.

Both projects are included in the DPWH Regular Infrastructure Program.
