“Tonyo” floods 2 overflow bridges in Cagayan Valley Region; 3 roads in Luzon still closed due to previous weather disturbances

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar advised motorists that the Abusag Overflow Bridge at K543+382, Baybayog- Baggao-Dalin-Sta. Margarita Road in Cagayan and the Cabagan-Isabela Overflow Bridge in Cabagan, Sta. Maria, Isabela are currently flooded and impassable due to overflow of river brought about by Tropical Depression “Tonyo”.

Secretary Villar said that maintenance crew were already deployed along affected sections and warning signs were installed to guide the general public.

In Mountain Province, Jct. Talubin-Barlig-Natonin- Paracelis-Calaccad Road, K0384+900, Saligking Section, Talubin, Bontoc is not passable due to collapsed slope.

The closed roads were based on the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance (DPWH-BOM) report gathered from field as of 2:00 PM, Monday, November 9, 2020.

Four (4) other road sections in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 2 and Region 4-A remain impassable from previous weather disturbances, namely: Tabuk-Banawe via Tanudan-Barlig Road, Dupligan, Tanudan, Kalinga, K0522+155- K0522+200 due to damaged concrete pavement and gutter and K0522+200– K0522+250 due to sunken pavement; Jct. Logac Lasam Gagabutan Road (JLLGR) Rizal Section, K0760+700-k0761+500, Sitio Masi, Brgy. Talat, Rizal, Cagayan due to mudflow; and STAR Tollway - Pinamucan Bypass Road, K0104+000 to K0105+000 and Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Unclassified Road both in Batangas due to collapsed stone masonry, damaged pavement and flooding.
